We have already informed you about the EU Consumer Rights Directive.
In the Netherlands only numbers with the prefix 0900 used for help desk and/or customer services are affected. When your existing customers are calling you will be allowed to charge a maximum of 1 EUR per call. Charging your existing customers via a per minute tariff is not allowed anymore starting from June 13th, 2014.
This new rule (no per minute pricing anymore and a maximum of 1 EUR per call) only applies to existing customers with whom you have an agreement. This rule does NOT apply for potential customers who call a 0900 number for information.
If you are offering a service desk, help desk or similar services on a 0900 number for existing customers in the Netherlands, you have the following options:
- an (additional) PRS number (tariff per call) with a maximum end user rate of 1 EUR per call,
- a geographical number or
- a FreeCall (toll free) number.
