Please be advised of the following changes in United Kingdom:
I. Increase in VAT:
- On January 4th, 2011 the VAT rate will increase from 17.5 % to 20 %.
- Primarily end customer rates shouldn´t be changed. So this increase would have reduced your payouts. Due to protests against this approach by many providers the following solution could be found: The end customer rates will be changed from gross rates to net rates. So end customers will have to bear the increase. Since the upcoming change in regulatory provisions (amongst other things new Code of conduct) this solution is limited in time.
- All consequences (advertisements, payouts, …) of this solution are not clarified yet.
II. Change of payout rates:
As we already have informed our customers ex ante, carriers in UK could implement a kind of collection fee for all 090Y numbers (both types = per minute and per call). This fee could be about 3 pence. We don´t have any further information about the proposed starting date. Your payouts would be reduced by this fee.
It´s not fixed yet if this fee will be charged per minute or per call.
We will keep you informed as usual.
